Milt Rochman
At an early age, Milt Rochman wanted to paint. Having shown a great desire and talent as a child, Rochman took classes at The Detroit Art Institute and Academy of Arts and Crafts in Michigan. While his concentration was on drawing, Mr. Rochman entered on painting in a scholastic contest in Detroit's Central High School, winning the only competition he ever entered. His work toured the United States and eventually ended up hanging in the Boston Museum of Art. Unfortunately, Rochman was unable to continue his education and career beyond this level, having to go directly to work upon graduation to support his family.
Rochman was a very successful entrepreneur and businessman in Detroit and the east coast of Florida, dabbling in his first love the entire time. In 1982, tragedy struck the Rochman family. Rochman lost his 3rd daughter Andrea to an unfortunate accident. This paralyzed Rochman's ability to create and paint. In 1988, Rochman suffered a nervous breakdown realizing that his beloved daughter was gone. Through this tragedy, Rochman stepped in front of the canvas one more time, to try and create her honor. This proved to be a turning point in Rochman's career. Milt's palette knife paintings of landscapes were widely accepted and appreciated in galleries around Florida.
